Lugano - More than 350 international industry experts convened for the CIRP CMS conference held in Lugano in the southern fringes of the Greater Zurich Area. The future of industrial manufacturing was discussed at the event. The conference was co-organized by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland.

At the end of June, Lugano played host to international experts from the area of industrial manufacturing, who descended on the area to attend the 55th CIRP CMS Conference at the Palazzo dei Congressi. The focus of discussions at the event was primarily on the impact of new technologies on industrial production systems.

The conference of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), an organization founded in Paris, was organized this year by the Department of Innovative Technologies from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). According to a press release issued by SUPSI, more than 350 participants from around the world were in attendance at the conference.

Emanuele Carpanzano, SUPSI Director of Research and Development, is pleased with the outcome of the conference, as he explains in the press release. The event offered experts, researchers and companies from all over the world a platform for exchange.

“SUPSI’s Innovative Technologies department carries out important research in the field of industrial manufacturing, dealing with new materials, new machines and the use of new digital manufacturing solutions in the process”, comments SUPSI Director Franco Gervasoni. He underlines that the conference also offered SUPSI researchers an opportunity to exchange ideas with a range of people from right across the planet.
