Zug – SkyCell has developed a smart container for the transport of temperature-sensitive products. The company has now entered into new partnerships with three airlines in just ten days: United Cargo, Singapore Airlines and AirBridgeCargo.

SkyCell’s temperature-controlled containers are particularly suitable for temperature-sensitive goods such as medications. Whereas the average temperature deviation with conventional containers is around 8.5 per cent, SkyCell’s containers have less than 0.1 per cent temperature deviations, according to the company’s website. And thanks to an innovative cooling technology, they weigh less than conventional containers, which in turn allows them to reduce carbon emissions.

According to CEO Richard Ettl, the SkyCell containers are also the most secure containers in the world for pharmaceutical products. They are equipped with IoT sensors that connect to SkyCell’s cloud-based, blockchain-encrypted software, allowing information such as temperature or humidity to be mapped in real time and displayed to all parties involved.

SkyCell’s containers are already being used by airlines such as Cargolux and Emirates. In the past ten days, it has now gained three major new customers: United Cargo (its first US customer), Singapore Airlines and the Russian airline AirBridgeCargo. The airlines intend to use the containers to improve how they transport biopharmaceutical products.

Founded in 2012, SkyCell is headquartered in Zug.
