IBM is advancing the development of quantum computers with its Q Network. Now, the test and measuring technology company Zurich Instruments has joined the network.

Zurich Instruments produces measuring technology instruments used by scientists and technological laboratories. The international company is now pouring its expertise and skills into IBM’s quantum computer technology.

IBM developed Q Network, which includes large publicly listed companies, scientific institutions, startups and national research laboratories, to advance the development of quantum computers. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, IBM announced its plans to expand the network, according to a statement. Alongside Delta Air Lines, Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo, Zurich Instruments has been named as one of the new members.

The products developed by Zurich Instruments help measure results that are difficult to measure. They are used in different fields, including in quantum computer research. The company was founded in 2008 as a spinoff from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and launched the first of many products in 2009. In 2018, it released a quantum analysis product for Spin Qubits, the basis for quantum computers. In the same year, it launched a control system that works with other devices and software as the first quantum computer control system in the world, explained Zurich Instruments.
