GotCourts enabling tennis in the post-coronavirus period

From May onwards, people are likely to be allowed to play individual sports such as tennis again. Tennis will probably increasingly rely on digital booking systems in order to comply with safety recommendations from the Swiss federal government. The Zurich start-up GotCourts has already developed the relevant technology and is offering the service in conjunction Swiss Tennis, the country’s national association for the sport.

Tennis enthusiasts can book courts and search for playing partners via the GotCourts platform. The app can, however, also help to trace infection chains during the coronavirus crisis, as revealed in a press release. Using the app, it is possible to check who was playing where – while, of course, adhering to data protection regulations.

The app reduces the danger of infection, as “the tennis players are better spread across the available courts, thereby avoiding a concentration of people”, explains Diego Seitz, CEO of GotCourts. He adds: “We are also able to easily track who played who and, where necessary, directly contact the players via the app”.

GotCourts and Swiss Tennis are planning to offer the app free of charge by the end of June.
