Sensirion has bought IRsweep, another company based in Stäfa in the canton of Zurich of Switzerland. The environmental and flow sensor solution provider had already owned 33 percent of the company’s shares since 2017.
IRsweep develops, produces and sells optical spectroscopy solutions based on semiconductor quantum cascade laser frequency comb technology in the mid-infrared range. According to a press release, with this acquisition Sensirion is expanding its portfolio of optical sensor technology from components and modules to stand-alone infrared spectrometers for industrial and research applications.
IRsweep Co-Founders Andreas Hugi, Markus Mangold and Markus Geister are quoted, saying: “We are excited to fully become a part of the Sensirion group, which will support us in expanding our reach and addressing new applications.”
Sensirion CEO Marc von Waldkirch says Sensirion “cordially welcomes” the eleven employees of IRsweep and that Sensirion is looking forward to “joint developments of optical sensing solutions for air or water quality measurements.”
