Zurich - The Polish firm Eurowagon is equipping its freight cars with sensors developed by Nexxiot. This will increase transparency during transportation and improve the security of freight cars and cargo.

The Polish railway car rental firm Eurowagon is joining forces with Nexxiot. The Zurich-based company operates in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT), developing both software and hardware solutions. According to a press release, Eurowagon will now equip its freight cars with sensors from Nexxiot, with the aim of improving transparency and security. The sensor solution known as Globehopper supplies real-time data on daily freight car operations.

“With the Nexxiot solution, we control the planning of regular repairs and prevent potentially dangerous situations by continuously monitoring our fleet”, comments Marek Gołębiewski, Technical Director at Eurowagon, in the press release. His company is notified of incidents via the Nexxiot cloud and can carry out a shock analysis to determine which wagons are affected and to what extent. According to Gołębiewski, Nexxiot has adapted the sensor solution to align with Eurowagon’s individual needs.

“Security and trust go hand in hand”, explains Stefan Kalmund, CEO of Nexxio. “Digital solutions that bring transparency to operational processes enable companies today to provide their customers with all important information and evidence of their duty of care”, he adds.

Nexxiot is headquartered in Zurich and operates branch offices in Germany and the USA. The company has its sights set on global growth on the back of its IoT solutions for the logistics of tomorrow.
