AutoForm is gaining American owners. According to a press release, the investment firm Carlyle is acquiring the company based in the canton of Schwyz from the French affiliated company Astorg. No financial details have been announced. According to an article from the Wall Street Journal, the purchase price was around 2 billion US dollars.

AutoForm was founded as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in 1995. The company specializes in software for the automotive industry. Its solutions are involved in sheet metal forming and the assembly process, to name a few uses. According to information provided by the company, they are used by “all of the top 20 automotive OEMs”.
Benjamin Deshayes, Managing Director leading Technology for the Carlyle Europe Partners advisory team, comments: “We have long been attracted to AutoForm’s highly differentiated solutions and continuous performance track record.” He specifically highlights the “deeply rooted culture of innovation” and investments in research and development at AutoForm, adding that the acquisition underlines Carlyle’s strategic commitment to the European technology sector.
